Workpackage 2 - Recommendation on design fire scenario's

Presentation

Aim of this work package is to recommend fire scenarios which address life safety issues and structural integrity. These includes:

  • the course of some actual fires,
  • evaluation of fire growth rate and peak HRR,
  • structural integrity of the tunnel,
  • ventilation,
  • equipment,
  • evacuation and rescue of people.

These recommendations are based on design fires that are already defined in some countries, experimental fires like those within the EUREKA project and lessons learned from real fire events.

The design fires shall be specified for road tunnels, main line railway tunnels and metro tunnels.
