A FIT public working document is a draft document that is being prepared for final edition by the FIT network; a FIT public working document is in a advanced stage of finalisation. It is made available for the FIT corresponding members for consultation, input and comment. To become part of the FIT Corresponding membership and access these documents, please register as FIT Corresponding members.

The general structure of the FIT report is as follows:

The public documents are presented following five main topics

• General approach to tunnel fire safety (§1 of the FIT report)
• Recommendation on design fire scenario's. FIT has the objective to collate design fire scenario's with data of fire incidents and fire tests. FIT has the aim to recommend distinct design fire scenario for a defined number of applications and purposes (§2 of the FIT report)
• Compilation of guidelines for fire safe design based upon a comparison and discussion of the several codes, standards and guidelines that are being used through Europe member states and organisations (§3 of the FIT report)
• Best Practice for fire response management for tunnel authorities and fire emergency services on prevention and training, accident management and fire emergency operations (§4 of the FIT report)
